CB1 receptors are more concentrated in the brain and the central nervous system, while CB2 receptors are generally found in the immune system. For people who suffer from obesity, the CB1 receptors are more widespread, particularly in fat tissue. This is why researchers think that there may be a link between the stimulated CB1 receptors and obesity.

CBD is also seen to activate a lot of receptors like endocannabinoid and serotonin. The compound may play a crucial role in weight loss and other metabolic functions.

Research and the Effects of CBD on Weight Loss

Some evidence from the research revealed that CBD could aid weight loss and prevent metabolic disorders.

CBD reduces appetite. A number of proponents say that CBD can help in weight loss by reducing appetite. As it stimulates the CB2 receptors, CBD reduces inflammation and food intake, which potentially reduces obesity. A 2012 animal study showed that CBD reduced appetite in lab rats.

CBD turns white fat into brown fat. There are two types of fat: white and brown. White fat is bad fat since it increases one’s risk for chronic conditions like diabetes and heart diseases. Brown fat is observed as a more active form of fat that burns energy as heat. This means that it burns calories. This means CBD helps burn fat by converting white fats into brown fats.

CBD lessens the risk of incurring metabolic disorders. A 2018 research noted that obesity and metabolic disorders are closely related. Examples of these metabolic disorders include high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and high cholesterol. CBD’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects have been observed to decrease blood sugar and ensure a healthier liver.

What to Consider

Even if CBD has a lot of potential for reducing obesity, it is not an obesity treatment. It’s not a replacement for the old-school healthy diet and exercise. A person who may take CBD without exercise or a proper diet may not see any weight loss results. 

It’s crucial to see a doctor before taking CBD for weight loss. There may be medications you are taking that can bring about adverse reactions.
