The cold draw is of light hay and wood.
The first third started with peppery flavors and a sweet, creamy, long finish. Cherry flavors in a palette of dark fruit mix with some nuttiness blend well with the cinnamon finish—the first third ends with peppery notes.
The second third has sweet chocolate from cocoa and chocolate notes, while the earth flavor stays upfront. The pepper comes as a secondary note, while the wood notes, cherry flavor, and dark fruit recede somewhere to the background. There are some mild leathery notes to go with the pepper as well.
The tobacco flavor gets more robust in the final third, and the rest of the flavors have the same profile but become weaker in the background.
Overall, the Liga Undercrown Sungrown Gran Toro is a smooth, full-bodied, medium-strength cigar with basic transitions. The complexity of flavors does not go beyond the leathery, wood, and cinnamon flavors. Still, the cinnamon finish with the sweet palette has its moments with the earthy, chocolate, and cocoa flavors.
The cigar has a full flavor with a medium to strong profile and body that complement a hearty aroma, which is pleasant on the draw and finish. The second third is the part where the cigar is the smoothest. In the final third, the hints of leather and tobacco are dominant with the black pepper.
The construction can still get better. The cigar would need touch-ups throughout to correct the burn. The construction, however, did not deter the quality in my opinion.
