Review of Cohiba Robusto

Cohiba Red Dot Review

As someone who ventures to the cigar world for quite a long time, I can confidently say – and many would agree that Cohiba Cigars – whether it’s the Cuban or Dominican – are earnestly adored by smokers for their premium quality. The brand name itself screams an undying Cuban cigars supremacy for more than five decades; however, today, I would like to highlight a Dominican Republic beauty – the Cohiba Red Dot Robusto.

Every time I opened my humidor, the undeniable attraction between my palate and this 49-gauge cigar never seems to falter. For roughly less than an hour spent, I get to experience a bliss I know I’d be wanting all the time. I have had several love affairs with this rustic-looking, gorgeous Cameroon-wrapped cigar, and I can’t pretty much say anything other than, ‘wow.’ When something is precious to you, you savor each moment with them; the same goes for this sophisticated stick. I honestly enjoyed its company, that I want to indulge myself with an everyday smoke of this fine cigar.

Pull of Cigar

Cohiba Red Dot Robusto is a double-capped cigar loaded with an Indonesian Jember binder and Dominican Piloto Cubano filler that is embraced by a stunning caramel-hued wrapper. As far as construction is concerned, I’ve got to say it’s got no problem. The buttery sheen, minimal veins, and open seams it projects are worth admiring. Strangely, I find its sandy texture satisfying to the palm.

Using my cigar cutter, I evenly clipped its cap, and just like that, the aromas of white pepper, leather, and espresso burst in the air. The cold draw offers a nice moderate sweetness, which leaves a good impression to my taste buds. In order to satiate my craving, I must end the tease and begin to toast it slowly.

Taste

The initial whiff of the lit Cohiba Red Dot Robusto exposes a dominating note of black pepper, which gradually fades and becomes a mild, buttery and sweet caramel. The draw is amazingly just right, providing a really good mouthfeel. Before the end of the first third, a subtle creaminess found its way to the tip of my tongue. This medium-bodied cigar instantly kills the game, right from the outset, I must say.

Progressing into something balanced and smooth, the second third emphasizes a velvety flavor, with underlying notes of sweet honey, butterscotch, and chewy nuts. I’d like to commend the potency and richness it exudes amid its medium strength. The fascinating, lofty ash makes my smoking journey even more thrilling, observing how long it could endure before it falls off. The last third then gives off a magnificent, protracted finish.

The call for black coffee with a pinch of salt is irresistible, so I did grant myself a favor – oh, this is the life I would live for.

Overall Review of Cohiba Red Dot Robusto Review

The artisans of Cohiba went to great lengths to craft the Cohiba Red Dot Robusto. A good cigar must burn well and from the moment this cigar burned sharply, I knew it was going to be a good smoke. In terms of texture, aroma, and blend, the Cohiba Red Dot Robusto has definitely nailed it. The perfect balance of nicotine and oil also left a deep impression on me.

Overall, no one could complain about its superb construction. Although it did not provide a plethora of flavors, its strength lies in its solid core, responsible for delivering the succulence my palate is looking for. This cigar encapsulates a consistent smoking experience genuine smokers will surely can’t get enough. Hard-earned money deserves to be spent on something rewarding, just like the Cohiba Red Dot Robusto. With that being said, it earned a well-deserved 90-point-rating.
